Job Description :
Working with educators and authors from across the Arab World, the Arab World editions team is seeking an Editor to join their team in developing quality textbook and learning materials for Higher Education students in the Arab World.

In this exciting and newly created role, the Editor (Arab World Editions) will be responsible for ensuring manuscripts and other elements of publishing are prepared for production, and all editorial operations are carried out to quality, time and cost standards set by the division under the direction of the Editorial Manager and Arab World Publisher.
• Preparation of manuscript and editorial checking of material at each stage to handover final manuscript for production
• Read and comment on draft material
• Check and collate proofs thoroughly to minimize the level of correction at subsequent stages
• Ensure clear mark up for design
• Prepare/adapt editorial style guide for programme and ensure style is applied consistently to materials
• Ensure professional and effective relationship maintained with authors; liaising as required, to resolve queries before and during the production process
• Ensure editorial integrity and suitability of supplementary materials
• Ensure text, illustrations and photos meet copyright/permissions requirements for all products
• Ensuring material is appropriate to the cultural sensitivities of an Arab World audience
• Ensuring material is appropriate to the needs of students with English as a second language
• Maintain awareness of new technological advances
• Maintain awareness of content management initiatives


Reporting to the Editorial Manager, the Editor (Arab World Editions) will work closely with both the UK based editorial, production and technology teams, and with the Arab World Publisher and Marketing Manager based in the Middle East.
Experience required :
Understanding of print and digital publishing processes
Understanding of editorial mark up conventions
IT skills (effective use of MS Word, Outlook, excel, the internet)
Team-working skills
Industry related experience in Higher Education and/or textbook publishing preferred
